MEET OUR SUMMER INTERN, HAIDYNN!
I've known Haidynn since about halfway through her junior year of high school, when she joined my senior model team. She did her senior portraits with me last summer, which we shot in the beautiful vineyards in Fairfield and a cafe in Davis. You can check out all of her senior portraits by clicking here!
It's been amazing to continue working with her now that she has graduated, and I'm thankful to have her as part of our BGP family. Read more about Haidynn and her fun/crazy self below!
Tell us a little about yourself!
My name is Haidynn and I am from Dixon. I am 17 years old and recently graduated from Dixon High School about three weeks ago! My summer plans are to spend lots of time with friends and family and traveling as much as I can before I leave for college. My goal in life is to see at least 60% of the world before I die and take every chance to experience something new that leads to a good story. I am attending University of Portland in the fall and I’m ecstatic about it! I decided to do this internship because photography is one of my many passions and I was a senior model for Brianna and she’s so fun to work with!
What do you love about photography?
What I love about photography is that a picture always tells a story. Behind every photo is a story whether it’s a good or bad one and that’s the beauty of it. I’m a person who has hundreds of photos and every one of them makes me happy because of what happened while I was taking the photo.
What are you passionate about?
I’m passionate about traveling the world. Ever since I was small that’s all I’ve ever wanted to do. Now that I’m old enough to drive and will be 18 soon, I do a lot of little road trips with my friends and try to see as much of California as I can before I move to Oregon. When I go to school, I plan on studying abroad in Ireland and possibly Australia. But Ireland has always been at the top of my travel list.
What are some small things that make your day better?
One small thing that makes my day better is my best friend Nate. He will call me after work or just randomly tell me some crazy story that he over dramatizes and it makes my day a thousand times better.
And my mom for sure always brightens my day. Whenever I come home from a long day, no matter how hard I try to hide it, she can always tell if I’m upset. She always makes me laugh to help me feel better. It never fails because she is honestly the funniest person I’ve ever met.
What’s the last adventure you went on?
My last wild adventure I went on was just a few days ago when Nate, my friend Marybeth, and me went to Lake Berryessa, which is a usual trip for us.
However, this time Nate suggested I drive his truck to the lake, which he just recently bought, and it’s much older. So I drove it up there and tried to keep my cool the whole time, trying to not freak them out as I drove. But I honestly had no idea what I was doing and the car was so old I didn’t know where anything was! We made it there alive luckily.
But I have a huge fear of butterflies, which I’m aware is super weird, but they scare me to death. When we got to our normal lake spot the place was SWARMING with evil little butterflies! My friends, being as amazing as they are, cleared the air around me as much as possible because I was freaking out! So I would say that was a pretty wild adventure for me!
What is your favorite food?
There’s an ice cream shop in Portland called Salt and Straw and the honey lavender ice cream is something I could seriously eat for the rest of my life!
What is something that no one knows about you?
Not many people know, but I am a huge bookworm! Since I was around 12, I have filled an entire bookshelf by myself. Also, I make a mean Dutch apple pie.
Favorite thing to do on a beautiful day?
Go to the lake.
Are you a morning person or a night owl?
I’m sort of both which is definitely unfortunate! Lately I’ve been staying up late and sleeping in, however, I looovee the mornings. The smell of coffee, breakfast when I actually feel like making it, and the crisp air is one of the best things in life to me.
Starbucks or Dutch Bros?
Both! I'm more of a Starbucks person in the winter and Dutch Bros. in the summer!
What are you excited about in the next 12 months?
Going to school in Oregon! It’s all I ever think about! Also enjoying my last summer with all of my friends from high school is a big thing I’m looking forward to. And what I’m most excited for once I finish my first year of college is my best friend Nate will move there too, so we can go apartment scouting!
What are you grateful for right now?
This is super cheesy but I’m grateful for life in general. As I grow up I realize the beautiful things in life are simple and you don’t need fancy things or crazy success. All you need is family, friends, a good book, great music, and amazing food!
